Frequently Asked Questions

What do I do if I've got a Gas emergency?

If you can smell gas, think you might have a gas leak or are worried about gas safety in any way (including Carbon Monoxide poisoning), you must call the National Gas Emergency Service, 24 hours a day, on 0800 111 999 immediately.

Make sure you:

  • turn off the gas supply at the meter
  • open doors and windows
  • don't smoke
  • don't use naked flames
  • don't turn electricity switches on or off (including doorbells)
  • don't use a mobile telephone whilst inside the property.
