Why's my bill higher after my smart meter was installed?

During your smart meter upgrade, our installation partner will take final meter readings from your current meters.

If we didn't get meter readings from you or a meter reader and they're higher than what we've been estimating, you'll see the catch-up on your next bill.

This isn't because you've had smart meters installed, it's just that we hadn't charged you the right amount because we had been underestimating what you'd used. 

Good news – now you've got smart meters, your meter readings will be sent to us automatically, so you'll only pay for the energy you use.

What happens next?
If you pay for your energy by Budget Plan, we’ll take a look at your payments to see if they need to go up, so you don’t fall behind.

If you’re worried about paying a high bill all in one go, don’t worry – just give us a call and we can work out a payment plan.
